MT8733 Back Up Battery | bbu-8733

The BBU-8733 is an expandable battery-backup UPS kit for use with the Motorola MT8733.  It allows the MT8733 to continue providing telephone service during AC power outages.  The BBU-8733 replaces the original AC power adapter provided with the MT8733, and will supply power to the unit continuously while AC power is present. If an AC power outage occurs, the BBU-8733 and will automatically switch over to its attached battery for to supplying backup power during an AC power outage.  

The basic kit comes with one battery pack for up to 8 hours of standby power (for phone service only), and the BBU-8733 can support up to 24 hours of standby telephone service power by attaching two additional batteries, sold separately.

When the BBU-8733 detects the loss of AC power, it switches to battery power automatically and outputs a signal to the MT8733.  When the MT8733 sees this signal, it switches to a special low-power mode that supports only the telephone interface.  During this low-power mode, internet service thru WiFi or Ethernet LAN is not available.  When AC power is restored, the BBU-8733 automatically switches back to normal power mode and removes the battery-mode signal to the MT8733. This triggers the MT8733 to restore normal operation with Ethernet and WiFi internet service. When AC power is restored, the BBU-8733 automatically recharges its attached battery or batteries.
